Dealing with People who are hurt in the Church

Recently I was bombarded with this question, how to help those who are in hurt? When you face certain situation, sometimes you might act in certain way out of the norm. People who are hurt will do things beyond our expectations. So, as a church, how should we respond to these people. At one hand, we do not want to condone the wrong things they are doing. Perhaps during their hurtful time, they sin excessively. On the other hand, we know that they are suffering with the pain in their heart, and if we come straight to them, it might not able to help them at all.

As a Christian, if you see your brother/sister, facing difficulties in life, and he/she make certain decision or conclusion that you think is wrong, what will you do? If after you have try persuading yet it doesn't seems to help, what will you do next? On top of that, you find that people in the church started spreading rumours about what this brother/sister did, how do suggest to manage the situtation?

I welcome discussion from anyone who are reading this post. Put your comment in.

hi victor,

I think we should talk to them face to face eventhough it is not a pleasant situation. If we see our bro/sis walk away from God,we have the responsibility to talk to them personally.

I remember somebody told me this. That person may ask: if I'm not a Christian, will you still care for me like this? The answer is yes and no as well.

The answer is yes because i treat you as my bro/sis in the house of God. That's why i love and care for you. When a bro/sis turn away from God is something like slicing away some flesh from your body, you'll feel the pain.

In other hand, I would say no because if you're not a Christian then the bonding is not there. You won't feel the pain that much. I have to admit that the love of man is selfish and incomplete at times. I believe this will remind us more of the sacrificial love of Christ on the cross.

I dont think so that we talk to the bro/sis are hurt is working. Because during that period, no matter what you say, they might just deny or don't even want to bother you. That makes him/her more even hates you. Well, I trust in time that can wash everything away... This's my little comment.

Sometimes , a good listener will be a better way...Talking face to face also can be a solving method . When come to face to face , i think both of them will tell out everything with thier heart..So , both of them know what they feel about ..

Sometimes , we need some time to clear every thing that are blocking the way to solve..Give them sometime to cool down , then only come and deal with them.TIme can change everything...

Depends on the situation and the level..Everything problem there is a solving method

Maybe i am wrong..so , put some comments in..

Th funny thing is that i am going through something like this with ou=ne of my youth?

Honestly i am looking for answers ad would appreciate help. i feel so lost and hurt.

But personally i believe in loving them like jesus would judgning them not, dealing with their sins because i love tham and they can see that. and finally resotoring them. christian or not, everyone respondes to love. and being the and loving them purely for loving them i htink it beyond all the counseling we can give.

Love the sinner hate the sin. be Gods love to deal with the wounds of the sin and the hurts when there is repentance. accept the confession of faith and repentance and help the brother or sister into the right way with God and walk them through it...

I'm not into counseling too much or just talking. i want to walk the tenth mile with that person till their on their feet and are restoredin their family, restoredi nthe chruch, among their friends and restored in their relationship with God.

Well, my own opinion..

I really don't have an answer to it. Cause for me, no matter what action I make, there will be negative result.

For now, I will take a rather passive approach. I will be open for the person, and wait for God to deal with the person personally.

At the same time, I will continue to pray and care for those who have backslide. The reason is human is God's creation, whether they are sinner or not. We need to love them just as Jesus did.

If there is opportunity to address their issues, I will take it. Since the person have heard about Jesus, it will be even harder to share the truth with those who have backslide. I think, God's personal encounter would be the best answer. However, that's not always the case.

The road to heaven is difficult and narrow. Fallen people have the tendency to detour in their life, from this difficult and narrow way to heaven, to the big high way to hell.

I might be wrong in my approach, but that is what I have in mind.

Question... Where is humanity?
you should help ppl even tho he/she is not a christian. Disappointed!

-----------------------------------

get the person, talk to him/her nicely, ask about their problem, understand their pain, think about a solution / get them to play sports that they like and play with them.

It is proven that a person can think better when they are physically tired. they can even sleep and eat after sports. Sports can do more than just giving u good health.

-------------------------------

i know that u can shoot me in a lot of ways by ur knowledge of christianity. I dont care. i just want to give u a suggestion on how to help those ppl in need. This is humanity!

Good Luck.

Victor never said that he will not help anyone who is not a Christian. Please state that clearly so that can avoid misunderstanding. Thank You. He never mentioned that he will shoot or debate in Christianity way. Either way will help too. This blog is just to share how will u deal with it. So I dont think so it is a point to comment other people comments.
